When key signatures are introduced PFB makes liberal use of courtesy accidentals.

The PFB Oboe Book has an extra section provided for the oboe class. It starts in the key of F and runs from lesson One to Seven.
Colorful graphics are used to identify key and time signatures, intervals, definitions, challenging measures and more! Sticker boxes to mark progress, assignments, etc. are present on all 200 songs.
PFB has 20 progressive Duets based on songs from the whole book.
An Aim High! section provides material designed to give students extra help in preparing to read higher notes in their second year. Some instruments also have lower notes to read. These are based on easier songs from the beginning of the book.
