The Moorlands Waltz Solo for Tuba and Piano
The Moorlands Waltz is a solo for Tuba and Piano from the collection Scenes from the Cape. This collection is dedicated to my brother, Jerry Nelson, who was a musician and puppeteer with the Muppets.
This MRNS Music Digital Download will include the Tuba and Piano parts, a brief description of the solo, SmartMusic accompaniment files, and MP3 accompaniment files. (Note - the SmartMusic Accompaniments will be labeled as "Euphonium" when they are opened.)
Audio recordings of the trumpet version are available on the MRNS Music Channel on YouTube.
Description: My brother spent many hours at the Moorlands Inn playing music and croquet. Since the Moorlands was built around the turn of the twentieth century, I decided to write an old-timey sounding waltz dedicated to this wonderful place. This work is written in 3/8 time. Many all-region and all-state pieces are written in compound time signatures, so I wanted introduce it to the students in a solo setting. There is an intermediate and advanced version. The Intermediate version is quite a bit shorter, and therefore, more endurance friendly.
